Structure
Description DL-ConiineHydrochloride is an optical active coniine derivative that has been synthesized in a stereoselective manner. This compound is an asymmetric synthesis of the natural product, coniine. The DL-coniine hydrochloride molecule can be used as a matrix polymer for organic solvents with high viscosity and poor solubility. It is also biocompatible and not cytotoxic to cells. Coniine hydrochloride has been shown to have uncompetitive inhibition against acetylcholine esterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE). The chloride ion in the molecule may stabilize the transition state by interacting with the enzyme's active site, resulting in faster conversion of substrate to product.
