Description | Forphenicine is a natural product that inhibits phosphatases, which are enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of phosphate esters. It has been shown to inhibit animal phosphatases, including those involved in infectious diseases and cancer. Forphenicine has also been shown to inhibit the activity of oxindole phosphatase from the surface membranes of bacteria, as well as chromatographic methods. Forphenicine's chemical reactions have been extensively studied, and it has been shown to be a fluorescent derivative of 2-amino-3-hydroxypyridine. Clinical studies on this compound are limited, but it has been shown to be effective against some cancers. Forphenicine is also used as a chemical structure for other drugs. |
