Description	Hydrastine is a toxic compound that belongs to the class of alkaloids. It is a major constituent of the plant Hydrastis canadensis, which has been used in traditional medicine for centuries as a remedy for various ailments. Hydrastine has been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and bowel disease. The mechanism of action is not fully understood, but it has been suggested that it may inhibit the production of fatty acids in intestinal cells, thus reducing inflammation.
