Description | (+)-Isocorydine is a drug that has been used in China for centuries. It is an alkaloid that has been isolated from the plant Corydalis yanhusuo. (+)-Isocorydine is used as a chinese medicine preparation and can be found in various forms, such as pills, capsules, or powder. There are two main analytical methods for measuring the concentration of (+)-isocorydine: one uses a spectrometer to measure its UV-visible absorption spectrum and the other uses a colorimetric method to measure the amount of protopine it contains. The extraction of (+)-isocorydine from corydalis requires ultrasonic extraction with an inorganic acid (hydrochloric acid) followed by gel matrix chromatography on acetate extraction. The hydrolysis of protopine into (+)-isocorydine requires sodium hydroxide solution at high temperature. Hydrolysis of protopine |
