Description Reserpinic acid hydrochloride is a hydrophobic, water-insoluble, sustained-release preparation that has a prolonged release of reserpine. It is used to treat high blood pressure and severe anxiety. Reserpinic acid hydrochloride is soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform, ether and benzene. When it is mixed with water, it forms a suspension or solution. The sustained-release property of the formulation may be attributed to the water-soluble polymer layer. The multilayered structure may have been created by adding artefactual substances in order to imitate natural mineral deposits.
