Description | Sophoramine is a quinolizidine alkaloid that is found in Cimicifuga foetida. It is a potent immunosuppressive agent with a number of biological studies, including lymphocyte transformation and the ability to decrease disease activity. Sophoramine has been shown to inhibit hydrochloric acid production in rats and to cause cardiac effects at high doses. It also inhibits the proliferation of cardiac cells by inhibiting protein synthesis. In addition, it has been shown to have an effect on congestive heart failure through its pharmacokinetics study. Sophoramine has a low level of toxicity due to its low solubility in human serum, which means that it does not enter the bloodstream easily. |
