Description Trigonelline hydrochloride is a chemical compound that is found in coffee beans, tea leaves, and yerba mate. It has hypoglycemic effects and is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme fatty acid synthase. Trigonelline hydrochloride has been shown to inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. In addition, it inhibits prostate cancer cell growth by reducing cellular proliferation and inducing apoptosis. Trigonelline hydrochloride also has antioxidant properties due to its ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species. The compound can be synthesized from chlorogenic acids, which are found in coffee beans, green tea leaves, and yerba mate leaves.
