Description Trigonelline is a natural compound found in coffee beans and tea leaves. It has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of glucose-6-phosphatase by adipocytes. Trigonelline also has receptor activity as a ligand for toll-like receptors, which are proteins that bind to pathogen-associated molecular patterns on the surface of cells, triggering immune responses. This compound has been shown to induce neuronal death in response to matrix effect and response element signaling. Trigonelline is an important analytical method used for chromatographic analysis of biological samples such as HL60 cells.
