Description	Tuberstemonine is a natural product that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and immunomodulatory activities. It belongs to the group of indole alkaloids and was isolated from the roots of Oroxylum indicum. Tuberstemonine inhibits HIV infection by binding to the receptor activity on CD4+ T cells. This compound also inhibits the polymerase chain reaction in tissue culture cells by preventing DNA synthesis. The structure of tuberstemonine was determined using NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and mass spectrometry. The asymmetric synthesis of tuberstemonine has been demonstrated through a bv2 microglial cell culture model.
