Vincristine Detection Service

Vincristine is dimeric alkaloid isolated from the Madagaskar periwinkle plant (Catharantus roseus). Its molecular weight is 824.96 kDa, and the empirical formula is C₄₆H₅₆N₄O₁₀. Vincristine exhibits significant cytotoxic activity and is used as an antineoplastic agent in antitumor therapy. During cell proliferation, vincristine exerts its anti-neoplastic efect by inhibiting polymerization of tubulin and incorporation into microtubules, which prevents mitotic spindle assembly, leading to extension of mitosis and thereby apoptosis. In tumor cells, vincristine inhibits DNA repair and RNA synthesis mechanisms and blocks DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. In combination with other anti-cancer drugs, vincristine is widely used to treat various cancers, such as acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), malignant melanoma and breast cancer.
