Description | Corydaline is a p-hydroxybenzoic acid derivative that has shown inhibitory properties against COX-1 and COX-2. Corydaline inhibits the activity of cyclooxygenase enzymes, which are responsible for the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2. It has been shown to have a matrix effect on the benzalkonium chloride test, as it lowers the pH of the solution and thus alters the results of the test. The inhibition of COX-1 and COX-2 activity by corydaline may be due to its ability to bind to receptors in a concentration-dependent manner. This compound also exhibits an anti-inflammatory effect through its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, which may be due to its binding affinity for CGRP receptors. Additional studies have indicated that this compound may act as an analgesic by inhibiting noradrenaline uptake in rat brain synaptosomes. |
