Catalog Number ACM480819
CAS Number 480-81-9
Description Seneciphylline is a naturally occurring alkaloid that has been identified in the leaves of the plant Senecio longilobus. It is an autophagy inducer and has been shown to potentiate the effects of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) and to modulate the activity of mitochondrial enzymes. This alkaloid also induces apoptosis in murine sarcoma virus-infected cells. Seneciphylline has been found to be a genotoxic agent, with evidence for its genotoxic activity being observed in various studies. The long-term toxicity and toxicological studies on seneciphylline have not yet been conducted.
